Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female elected vice president and also holds the title of most powerful female officer in American history. A member of Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and was an United States senator representing California from 2011 to 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She was well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
